What is the Southeastern Ohio Center for Independent Living (SOCIL)?
SOCIL is a non-profit, non-residential Center for Independent Living that helps people of all ages with all types of disabilities live independently. Our foundation is peer relationships — people with disabilities assisting others as role models and mentors. Learn more on our About page.
Which counties does SOCIL serve?
SOCIL serves nine counties in southeastern Ohio: Athens, Fairfield, Hocking, Jackson, Meigs, Morgan, Perry, Vinton and Washington. Core services are centered in Fairfield and Hocking Counties.

What services does SOCIL offer?
How do I report an accessibility or ADA complaint?
If you know of an ADA violation, contact SOCIL at 740-689-1494 in Fairfield and Hocking County so we can investigate. See Accessibility Complaints.
What adaptive sports can I participate in?
Wheelchair basketball, boccia, bocce, wheelchair football, pickleball, goal ball, disc golf, cornhole and more. See Adaptive Sports.
Can I borrow assistive technology or equipment?
Yes — SOCIL loans laptops, iPads, hotspots, portable ramps, sensory items and daily living aids. See Assistive Technology.
How can SOCIL help my child transition from school?
SOCIL helps with IEP goals, post-secondary and employment transitions, and provides accessible High School Transition Resource Guides for Fairfield and Hocking Counties. See Youth School Transitions.
Where can I find community resources like transportation or housing?
Our Community Resources directory lists transportation, housing, legal aid, jobs, food and medication assistance across Fairfield and Hocking Counties.
How do I leave a long-term care facility or find community-based living?
